Pick n Pay's CEO resigns

In a surprising statement Pick n Pay announced the resignation of its CE0, Nick Badminton, yesterday. The retailer said that Badminton would resign from the board at the end of the financial year.

Badminton, who served as CEO for five years and has been with the retailer for a total of 32 years, has negotiated a number of uncertain times during his time at Pick n Pay, including putting measures in place in response to the tough economic recession. He has also been involved in many of the retailer’s transformation projects during his time as CEO.

The adage “retail never sleeps” couldn’t be more fitting than at a time like this, which sees Pick n Pay beginning its search for a new CEO to take over the reigns.

While this announcement puts Pick n Pay in the retail limelight, it doesn’t let other retailers off the hook, as they too have to put measures in place to remain competitive in the wake of new retail entrants and deal with fairly uncertain economic environment.
