FreshStop’s 133rd store opens its doors in Etwatwa, Daveyton

The steady growth of FreshStop at Caltex has taken another step forward with the opening of its first Township store in the Inland region, located at 1357 Eiselen Street, Etwatwa in Johannesburg on Thursday, 4 July 2013.

Etwatwa in Daveyton is one of the largest Townships in the country and Vusumuzi Mthimkulu, the store retailer, has been operating this site for the past 23 years and also owns and runs two other service stations in the Germiston and Alberton areas – so he knows what the business is all about. Through his extensive experience, he has acquired an in-depth knowledge of his clients and the quality product offering needed to enhance their fresh, convenient shopping experience. “It is very important to me that we offer our customers more than they’re used to - more value, more quality and a greater selection of product,” explains Mthimkulu.

The Caltex fuel forecourt, canopy and signage have been upgraded and multiple pump dispensers have been installed. The upgraded Caltex service station provides the ideal foreground for the new FreshStop convenience store, which has replaced the previous Starmart. With the conversion from Starmart to FreshStop, the trading area of the store has doubled in size and will attract more customers by offering a much wider variety of fresh produce and grocery items than ever before. An extensive hot food selection is available with favourites such as roast chicken, beef stew, vetkoek and mince, and bunny chows on the menu and the extensive Grab ‘n Go offering includes pies, wraps and sandwiches.

Mthimkulu’s passion and enthusiasm for his customers and community is inspiring. “The upgrading to FreshStop at Caltex and the products that we can now offer our customers, gives me an opportunity to serve my community, which fulfils my life,” he says. “Wow, wow!
