To keep South Africa at the forefront of global international developments within supply chain management, the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport: South Africa (CILTSA) is hosting a first-ever, never-to-be repeated global supply chain update in October 2013. This is an unprecedented opportunity for supply chain professionals to gain extensive knowledge from three internationally-respected and highly sought-after supply chain gurus.
Martin Christopher, Lisa Ellram and Silvia Rossi are undisputed and world-renowned thought leaders in supply chain management. This multi-award winning trio is coming to the Mount Nelson Hotel, Cape Town on 22 October 2013 and to the Maslow Hotel Sandton, Johannesburg on 24 October 2013, to participate in a one of a kind ‘Meet the Gurus’ series hosted by CILTSA.
Martin Christopher – Managing the Supply Chain of the Future
Christopher has been at the head of development and new thinking in logistics and supply chain management for over 30 years. His contribution to theory and practice of logistics and supply chain management is reflected in the many international awards he has received. He was one of the first to recognise that the real competition is between supply chains and not companies and he has sought to identify ways in which supply chain excellence can be achieved and sustained.
Christopher’s winning approach to supply chains is an integrated perspective that takes account of networks of relationships, sustainability and product design, as well as the logistics of procurement, distribution and fulfilment. At Cranfield School of Management, one of the world’s premiere business schools, Christopher has helped build the Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management into a leading centre of excellence.

A Chance to Interact with World-renowned Supply Chain Experts
“Never before have we had three people of this calibre in one place at one time at one event,” says Martin Bailey, Vice-President of CILTSA and Managing Director of Industrial Logistic Systems. “This exclusive programme offers limited opportunities to interact and engage with the gurus face-to-face through a series of interactive, closed sessions.”
“Managing supply chains in current volatile circumstances is challenging,” continues Manilal. With this in mind, topics to be explored include global mega-trends and their implications for logistics and supply chain management, the journey to supply chain excellence, strategic value management, inter-company collaboration, collaboration for freight logistics and sustainability.
