Our client is one of the largest producers and distributors in South Africa of a range of food & beverage products.
In this newly created position, you will be reporting to the Business Executive, taking responsibility for national channel development and account management for the General Trade – this extends to moving product into Forecourts and Fast foods markets.
In this specialist stand-alone function, analytical skills coupled with ‘on-the-ground’ experience in the informal FMCG environment, will see you lead national and regional customer channel sales strategy development and execution through various regional and production specific sales support structures.
Working hand-in-hand with the Marketing Executive, you will formulate consumer needs understanding within specified channel and design marketing support actions accordingly. Part of your role will be to strategically formulate and manage customer channel specific sales plans i.e. volume, price & promotions; negotiate and manage trading terms, price, shelf space & promotions; managed 3rd party service provider & agents performance and manage and influence an indirect sales force.
Essentially, you need 8 - 15 years’ experience in the FMCG sales arena, supported by a relevant Post Graduate Degree. Experience gained within the FMCG foods environment (where shelf-life is a factor) with cross-functional exposure to marketing, manufacturing, sales & distribution and understanding of the complexities of logistics in the informal sector.
More key would be your strategic understanding of channel management, ability to identify new channels and alternative / new markets with a view to facilitating customer growth.
