A strategically, exciting position has been created for a multi-talented individual who can confidently perform the role of the conduit between Hortgro Science and associated researchers, technical advisors and growers. Your primary focus will be to utilise your solid proven track record to co-ordinate, translate and implement a communications strategy effectively into Hortgro’s stakeholder audience. Thrive on the challenge of branding and positioning of our service, which is to convert the science behind our dynamic deciduous fruit industry into practical implementable solutions.
The key success to this role, is not only your ability to identify with the varying needs of all growers and stakeholders, but to ensure that the outputs of our research addresses and meets their specific requirements in the most appropriate format.
Working independently, you are not afraid to initiate progressive communications mechanisms to stimulate exceeding Hortgro Science’s business objectives, yet still managing your budget effectively.
Apart from being a naturally proactive and energetic individual who can demonstrate exceptional innovative and multi-tasking abilities, you will need a Degree in Communications/Media with 3-5 years’ related experience within a corporate or industry environment. Critical to this role is your ability to communicate verbally and in writing in both English and Afrikaans. With your target audience being diverse (from technical advisors to emerging growers), you must have excellent interpersonal skills with a credible track record of developing strong working relations with key participants.

Scientifically literate you pride yourself in being able to effectively translate research outputs into different target audiences through the utilisation of presentations/written/web-based/visual and electronic based communications. Your excellent organisational skills will assist you in multi-tasking as you work under pressure to meet deadlines.
