Heineken UK appoints new leader

Dutch brewer Heineken has appointed David Forde as the new head of its UK business – a week after managing director Stefan Orlowski announced he would leave to head its Americas division.
Forde, currently managing director of Heineken’s Irish business, will start the role of UK managing director in May.
He will report to Alexis Nasard, president of Heineken’s western Europe division.
Forde began his career with the firm, the world’s third-largest brewer, in sales and marketing in Ireland. He was previously marketing director of the Polish business, global commercial development director and global portfolio development director.
Between 2007 and 2009, he was managing director of Heineken UK before the group took over Scottish and Newcastle and the business was expanded.
The brewer said in a statement: “Since 2009, David has held the position of managing director for Heineken in Ireland and has led the transformation during exceptionally challenging economic conditions.”
His tenure there has taken in the Irish banking crisis, recession and the bail-out of the country from the eurozone.
Orlowski, who will be based in New York in his new post, succeeds John Nicolson, who is retiring.
Chairman Jean-Francois van Boxmeer said: "These significant changes will ensure that we have the people, structures and processes in place to realise our long-term growth objectives."

Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) said earlier in September that it expects basic earnings per share to be materially lower than the prior year by between 66% and 68% in the year ended 30 June. The company said in a trading statement published by the Namibia Stock Exchange that the decline is attributed to the impairment of a deferred tax asset related to DHN Drinks.
